I always wanted to have a dog, but my parents never let me, they always said that we don’t have the space, we live in an apartment and we don’t have a yard. I think they just don’t like pets in general and don’t want to deal living with a dog.

At the end of 2017, the first thing I thought about was to get a dog!
My siblings and I adopted our first dog Floyd from a friend of my brother, she quickly became the love of our life! I knew when we adopted her that if I didn’t give her a home, maybe no one would!

I had Floyd for almost 6 months ago, very short time if you ask me! I was devastated each time my parents say “we have to send her away”.
Floyd arrived home. She was so scared and anxious when we met.
No wonder, after a 3 day trip with all these different people and homes had been very strangers for her. But somehow when I got her in my arms, she knew she was finally home.

Floyd was scared of LITERALLY EVERYTHING when she first arrived, the floor, the stairs, the kitchen, the outside…  It took her months to get used to her new home and people. I had to carry her up and down the stairs all the time, I had to hand feed her, I had to carry her outside to do her business. It was a hard work!

So, after a few months, and a LOT of treats, she finally took her first steps up the stairs! I thought to myself, I should make this official, after all this work, I can’t give this dog to anyone, she’s mine!

She showed me that I can love another dog with the same intensity but different at the same time. She made my life happy again. And ever since then, she has taught me to be more patient, not everything had to be rushed, I have to take my time to enjoy things in life, just the same as she took her time to feel safe and comfortable in her home!

Oh! and by the way my parents now, are completely in love with her.
They might give up on us but never on her!
